Motion Simulation in Solid Edge using sketches together with Microsoft Excel VBA Programming Part I

Solid Edge CADSolid Edge has a very useful application called "Motion" which allows a user to simulate the movement of mechanical parts. This enables the machine designers to test and make sure that the movement of their mechanism is the same as they expect before manufacturing parts. This helps save a lot of money.

However, instead of using "Motion" application, I would like to show you how to simulate the motion of mechanical parts using a

AutoCAD Architecture/Architectural Desktop

November is all about Autodesk University (AU)! It’s only two weeks away and in less than that I’ll be on my way there. Excitement is in the air.

There are many changes and new ideas associated with AU this year. They vary from the handouts being handled differently to the Unconference at the Conference. (In my mind I can hear the Uncola CAD commercial from decades past.)

You can visit the Unconference site and read about the idea and sessions scheduled as well as take part in discussions. It is an unconference because it is not an instructor teaching students, but a leader leading a discussion on the particular unconference topic.

AU 07 is Over

What an experience! The surprising thing was really just how fast it went. I found myself sitting at the airport for my flight home and it felt as if I’d just arrived the day before.

Friday I spent the entire morning learning about Windows Vista. Being that I’d never truly seen it, I was happy to be able to expand my knowledge about what I know I need to learn.

The class was very helpful and was professionally done even though it was the last class on the last day. I learned about installation, security, and saw many ins and outs and pros and cons. I’m feeling pretty excited about it now.

Travel Woes

Are you sick of hearing all the media reports about how bad the airlines are or how busy travel is this time of year? I certainly am.

I’m getting ready to leave for Autodesk University on Friday. Why Friday? Well it seemed like it might be the least busy time of the Thanksgiving weekend to travel. Also, that gives me the weekend before AU to see some sites and relax before the big week.

What Happened to Head to Head Reviews?

With all that bloggers are doing, what is left for the traditional press? By their numbers, voraciousness and speed, bloggers seemed to have nailed event coverage. It wasn’t even a contest. Ditto, tips and tricks — the press just cannot compete with hard core users — which most bloggers are. What

Bloggers Get the Scoop

It’s hard for the press to compete with bloggers. There are so many of them. They report on each and everything. Sometimes it’s trivia (what I ate for breakfast), sometimes it’s borderline news (Lynn Allen attends SolidWorks World), but it can be the real choice stuff (enhancements shown for SolidWorks 2009).

AU 2007 ended on Friday, November 30. On Saturday, December 1, Peter Powell and I were married at the Valley of Fire in a Celtic Wedding Ceremony. Now I am officially Mrs. Powell. I’ve used the name officially so as not to confuse anyone when it changed so in a way it was my pen name. I will have some
